I recently got back from New York where a shot a short, spontaneous, personal film of peoples reactions to Jasper John's painting of the American flag, unfortunatley I haven't yet had chance to edit this, but felt it was worth mentioning.

3. Why I Want To Study At MMU

I attended one of the open days during October 2011. I have visited and stayed in Manchester numerous times and have always loved the city. One of the key things that attracted me to the course was the passion shown by the tutor during the presentation of the course, the passion he showed was something I feel I can replicate. From what I have gathered in looking into Manchester Metropolitan University I have heard only positive things from current students. Also the idea that the course focuses the creative side over the technical side is something that appeals to me.
Another thing that has attracted me to this course is the opportunities that are available in terms of working as a team and on an individual level. Personally I feel that I work strongest as part of a team as that's what I am most used to, however believe that I could grow and become equally good at working as an individual in due time. I also like the prospect of working in different roles in the production team, as I would like to get a grasp of all aspects of the production process and then move on and become a specialist in a couple of areas.
Something that stood out to me was the 90% of art, design and architecture graduates going straight into employment or further education is terrific and makes me feel that this university strives for the success of its students. This combined with the influx of the BBC into Manchester makes it a stand out university.
Overall I feel the passion of the tutors, the amazing facilities and the fantastic opportunities inside and outside of the university are the key reasons that I was attracted to this course.

4. Online Cinema

After watching a number of the videos I came across 'When The Dust Settles'. I found that I really enjoyed this film, something that stood out to me was a number of the shots and the way in which they were framed being very straight on and simplistic was something I thought was excellent. The minimalistic dialogue was something I also found was very effective with this video especially in terms of its subject matter. My overall feeling with this film was that it allowed you to make a strong connection with the character and that it was an excellent piece of work.

A2 Media Studies Music Video Coursework.

Apologies the video is in a link

Part of a group of three we were given the brief of making a music video. With this I took on the role of camera work during the narrative shots and the director during the performance shots as well as lead editor.
The narrative base is of the artist going to her video shoot with the performance being that shoot. We liked this concept from the start and stuck to it. We spent a lot of time researching other artists similar to ours as well as researching our artist to come up with the overall idea.

1. AS Media Studies Horror Movie Coursework

Apologies that the video is a link.

With This Video I worked in a group with three other students. I was heavily involved in the camera work as well as being part of a collective director role. I took on the role of main editor with the whole group having some input.
As a brief we were told to make the opening sequence of a horror film. We decided that we would stick to certain conventions e.g. lone female character, however wanted to go against some conventions e.g. child as the main threat.
We burnt the shirt and used YouTube tutorials to make our 'ghost' and the blood featured.
